JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Construction Inspector
LOCATION: Chicago, IL
We are seeking qualified candidates to join our large team of engineers and technicians providing survey, design, and construction support services throughout the Chicagoland area. The work will consist of inspecting the construction of various roadway and sidewalk improvement projects. The work includes field survey, construction layout, inspection of material placement, measurement of quantities, and other tasks related to ensuring contractor construction is completed in compliance with plans, specifications, and standards. The candidate will be trained in the engineering and construction concepts required to complete this work independently.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or other similar Science related curriculum.

0-3 years of experience in roadway design or construction, internship or co-op experience in the transportation field is desirable.

Fundamentals of Engineering License (EIT) or the ability to obtain within one year.

An understanding of Bentley MicroStation and other applicable engineering software is desirable but not required.

The preferred candidate will gain knowledge of IDOT and CDOT criteria, policies, and procedures.

An understanding of the requirements of Phase III Engineering (construction) as they relate to the process of inspecting transportation improvements to ensure work follows contract plans, specifications, and applicable standards is required.

The ability to work as part of a team and independently to effectively manage time and complete a daily list of projects.

Valid driver’s license in the state of Illinois; proof of insurability.
