JOB TITLE:        ITS Program Support Administrator


REPORTS TO:    Chief Innovation & Technology Engineer




SUMMARY:       The ITS Program Support Administrator will apply technical skills and knowledge of project management principles to provide on-site engineering support to the client located in downtown Chicago, especially as it relates to the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). They will monitor client department activities and schedules to maintain, fine tune, and enhance the department and project functionality.



  • Work at client facility

  • Work closely with prime consultant and client to advance overall ITS program forward

  • Maintenance support in coordination with the initial deployment and for ATMS operations such as: monitor the ATMS and supporting field infrastructure, identification and evaluation of issues including creation and management of system trouble tickets to ensure closeout of items

  • Tasks will be assigned as needed based upon overall project needs and priorities

  • Provide weekly and monthly reporting describing support provided and status of the assigned tasks

  • Coordinate with the client’s finance department to ensure funding for Traffic Safety projects is set up properly

  • Coordinate with client’s procurement services on projects to ensure Traffic Safety projects have correct specifications and estimates

  • Assist the client’s Traffic Safety department with general project oversight, including managing Traffic Safety project consultants to ensure project work is completed properly and on time.

  • Coordinate with other stakeholders (including, but not limited to Emergency Management, Project Development, Engineering, and Electrical Operations) for Traffic Safety projects

  • Provide support to the operation of the client’s ATMS and ITS programs

  • Provide client program support related to:

    • Contract support

    • Investigation and administration or program documents primarily at the discretion of the client

    • Follow-up for all assigned tasks

    • Track tasks to completion and develop schedule and escalation approach for the tasks

    • Coordinate directly with the contract prime and TranSmart/EJM staff to ensure tasks are completed on time and are addressing conflict of interest considerations

  • Learn client file systems and project development utilities

  • Willingness to engage in the traffic engineering and ITS methods and practices

  • Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and be able to drive one’s own vehicle to client, field and TranSmart/EJM offices

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Four-year degree in business, project management, or engineering

  • Master’s degree in project management or PMP is preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of project management and/or project administration experience

  • Experience with contracting and procurement expertise is preferred

  • Previous experience as an employee onsite with a client is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Safety related activities are performed primarily in the field for construction projects.  For design and engineering phases of safety work, a standard office environment with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions is to be expected.
