January 27, 2023
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker recently announced the appointment of Duana Love, PE, to the state’s Blue-Ribbon Commission on Transportation Infrastructure Funding and Policy. Duana is TranSmart’s Chief Multimodal Transportation Engineer and will join transportation experts and policy makers charged with evaluating Illinois' existing transportation infrastructure funding and policy processes and develop alternative solutions.
A committed advocate for multimodal transportation equity, Duana has been called upon before to help steward the direction of transportation policy when she served as a Co-Chair for the 2019 Chicago Mayor Transition Team’s Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Committee.
“It is an immense honor to have this opportunity to contribute to the future of transportation in my home state, as a member of such a diverse and distinguished group,” said Love. “It is uniquely rewarding and humbling to realize that the sum of my personal, professional, and educational experiences has led me to this place in time.”
Duana is a professional engineer with 30 years of extensive engineering, programmatic and regulatory knowledge gained from implementing and overseeing projects throughout the Midwest. She has implemented multimodal programs and projects for federal, state and regional transportation agencies including the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). Her diverse career includes planning, design, construction, system safety, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) deployments for infrastructure projects throughout Illinois and the Midwest.
“We’re so proud of Duana. Her impressive career has already made such an impact on Illinois communities,” said Dr. Connie Li, PE, TranSmart's President. “We’re glad she has this opportunity to demonstrate her exceptional leadership and innovation abilities to help make Illinois transportation infrastructure better.”
