Mohammed Rashed Promoted to Vice President, Electrical Engineering Business Development

TranSmart, Inc., is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Mohammed Rashed, PE, LEED Green Associate, to Vice President of Electrical Engineering Business Development. Mohammed will serve in an important new role in business development activities. The company’s success is highly dependent on being successful in new business development and marketing activities, and this promotion is an acknowledgement of that.
Mohammed joined the company as Senior Electrical Engineer in 2012 and was promoted to Chief Electrical Engineer within months. Prior to that, he served as Chief Electrical Engineer with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) for seven years. At CDOT, he oversaw the planning, design, and construction oversight of the City’s entire electrical and lighting infrastructure.
“Mohammed’s leadership and technical expertise has been key to the success of the firm’s Electrical Engineering and Lighting practice for nearly a decade,” said Dr. Connie Li, PE, President and CEO of TranSmart. “In this new role, he’ll continue to leverage his industry knowledge and relationships to help us deliver innovative electrical engineering and lighting solutions to an expanded TranSmart client base.”
Mohammed has more than 30 years of experience with all phases of infrastructure-related electrical engineering and lighting projects. His background includes roadway lighting, bridge navigational lighting, tunnel and underpass lighting, traffic signal, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects. Mohammed has successfully managed TranSmart’s role on several complex projects for CDOT, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (Illinois Tollway), and various Illinois counties. He is currently providing project management for the company’s electrical and lighting projects including Various Lighting Projects – Statewide for IDOT and Traffic Signals and Roadway Lighting Design for CDOT.

Mohammed is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, maintains the LEED Green Associate accreditation, and is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
