TranSmart Welcomes Roy Lawson, Jr., as Senior Systems Manager

TranSmart, Inc., is pleased to announce that Roy Lawson, Jr., recently joined the firm as Senior Systems Manager. Roy comes to TranSmart from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) where he spent more than 33 years designing and supervising the construction of complex Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and electrical engineering projects throughout District One.


“Roy is an exciting addition to our team of ITS and electrical engineers,” said Austin Provost, Senior Vice President with TranSmart. “His vast experience with ITS, electrical, and lighting projects from planning through construction on the project owner side sets him apart in the region’s transportation engineering industry!”

During Roy’s career at IDOT which encompassed significant innovation and growth in the application of technology on Illinois roads, he was responsible for supervising and inspecting all ITS elements installed as part of District One projects. He also completed plan reviews for ITS elements as part of Phase I and Phase II District projects and provided plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for various construction contracts that included ITS related items.

Roy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
