A few examples of our work
We have successfully completed projects and studies of all sizes in both lead and subconsultant roles. This includes assignments ranging from municipal traffic and parking to major travel corridors spanning multiple jurisdictions and requiring environmental documentation to secure federal and state funding. We take great pride in helping our clients plan, design, and implement their goals. The projects showcased here are only a few that we’ve completed within our six major service areas.
Transit Program Managment
Illinois DOT – Program Management Team (PMO) Support for CREATE Program
The Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program (CREATE) is a public-private, multi-project effort to improve the efficiency of the passenger and freight rail network in the Chicago region. It involves privately-owned freight railroads, Metra, Amtrak, the American Association of Railroads, the City of Chicago, Illinois DOT and the Federal Railroad Administration. Several CREATE projects—such as crossing and signal improvements and grade separations—have been completed, others are in the planning and construction phases, and numerous others have yet to be funded.
TranSmart tasks include supporting public involvement activities, regional and multimodal transportation analysis, review of rail and transit, travel demand and congestion management, evaluation of environmental impacts, forecasting, funding, demographic analysis, land use, GIS, and policy review.
MnDOT NLX HSR – Northern Lights Express
The Northern Lights Express is a future intercity passenger rail service that would operate between the termini cities of Minneapolis and Duluth, Minnesota, and stop at four other intermediate communities. TranSmart’s responsibilities include analyzing impacts of passenger rail service on station and layover areas, including impacts on traffic operations and circulation, pedestrian and bicycle networks, and transit operations, as well as on freight and other passenger rail operations in the corridor. TranSmart is conducting traffic counts and traffic operations analyses at intersections near proposed station locations, and traffic circulation analyses at numerous public and private crossings.
