Program Management Oversight Team

PROJECT BACKGROUND

TranSmart served as a member of the RTA’s program management oversight team—assisting in formal reviews of multiple transit projects in the Chicago metropolitan area to determine if the work was executed according to scope and managed in accordance with the established, current best practices. Projects and TranSmart’s involvement included:

  • CTA Purple Line— Viaduct Reconstruction Monitored the progress of three concrete viaducts being replaced with steel bridges along the Purple elevated transit (“El”) line over Dempster, Greenleaf, and Grove streets; also provided structural engineering oversight and evaluation

  • CTA Red Line (Dan Ryan)—Reconstruction Provided oversight and technical assistance related to construction staging and transit operations for the track renovation; participated in an eight-day value engineering analysis of the proposed design (12th Street through 95th Street)— including field visits to existing rail line and stations, analysis of drawings, discussion of schedule, segments of work, type of work, disruption of service, and various station modifications. Suggested changes to the proposed design included estimated cost-savings and feasibility

  • Wilson Station— Reconstruction Served as part of a value engineering effort and provided structural and facility operations technical input

  • CTA Red Line— Track and Station Reconstruction  Monitored construction meetings and project progress; also prepared and submitted weekly reports including meeting minutes, project costs, and schedule deviations

  • CTA Blue Line— Track Renewal and Station Improvements Assisted with the PMO to determine if projects were executed according to scope and managed in accordance with the established, current best practices; monitored construction meetings and project progress
