TranSmart was part of the team providing ongoing engineering services in support of the management of the Illinois Tollway system. Throughout the duration of the project, structural inspections were performed on hundreds of bridges and included in-depth, special, and applicable biennial inspections of multiple types of bridges. Based on the inspections, comprehensive, existing condition, and concept repair reports were created and submitted to the Illinois Tollway for further review and coordination with the multi-year capital improvement program.

 

TranSmart also supported the General Engineering Consultant (GEC) in developing ITS and tolling design guidelines, pay items, and guide drawings for the development, implementation, and commissioning of ITS systems. Components included:

• Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras

• Dynamic message signs (DMS)

• Portable changeable message signs (PCMS)

• Mainline and ramp detection

• Roadway weather information system (RWIS)

• Weigh-in-motion stations (WIM)

• ITS systems commissioning

 

TranSmart was also responsible for schedule and equipment coordination with Illinois Tollway personnel.
