The Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Transportation worked together to develop a new interchange to connect I-57 with I-294. This was a complex, multi-phase, multi-contract project that included an interchange connecting two interstate highways, and two interchanges and a toll plaza connecting the interstate highways to 147th Street. It was designed, bid, and constructed in phases over a several-year period. As a subconsultant, TranSmart designed lighting upgrades and several components of the project, and also provided lighting concept design, final plans, specifications, and estimates. The complex project incorporated many elements, including high-mast arm lighting design.
